As promised, here is a simple necklace DIY...
Supplies: paint, large jewelry hoops and matching chain, two small birds (you can find them in the floral section at a local craft store) , and a stick/twig.
Pantry Supplies: Jewelry pliers, paintbrush, and wood glue.
First, paint your stick white. I made my very splotchy to give it a more rustic look.
Then, attach the hooks to the end of the stick. You'll want to purchase the largest hoops available, that way they won't be too small and you can always shape them to the stick. Make sure you secure the chain on the hoops BEFORE you put the ends of the hoops back in place.
Lastly, take wood glue and attach your love birds!
Hope you enjoy this little gem as much as I do.
I'm off for a late morning coffee run and then RVA for the day. Hope your week is starting off perfectly. xxo

Adorable! What a cute companion piece for your nest necklace.
ReplyDeleteHow secure is the jump rings exatly? Would it be better to use a srew driver to dril a small hole and THEN attch the jumprings throughthe hole?
ReplyDelete-Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't suggest that. It might crack the branch. The jewelry rings are meant to be larger than the branch, then secured tightly by forming it to the branch with jewelry pliers. I haven't had a single problem with it sliding off or even becoming loose. Hope this helps! xx
wOW!!! Amazing idea! Thank you so much for sharing! :-)
ReplyDeleteI love this!!!! I made something similar for my necklaces, you can see here:

I love yours DIY!!
As a result of finding this tutorial on Pinterest. I "invested" my time looking through your blog for the last hour. You are very talented thanks for sharing all your crafts. By the way, I love how my necklace came out. I couldn't find the little birds you had mine are fatter (nothing wrong with that). My birds must know where to go to get their grub on. :)
ReplyDeleteI also put the link to your tut on my blog. Thanks again.
where did you get your birds?
DeleteI love the ides, but where did you get the birds? the only ones I can find are too large.
ReplyDeleteI loved this DIY and was so happy when a stick fell from the sky (sort of). I couldn't find tiny birds too, so I used flowers instead.
ReplyDeleteHere's how mine turned out: http://theclothesmuse.blogspot.com/2012/03/first-post-diy-stick-necklace.html
