I think this might be my new addiction. Since making this little rug, I already have a copious amount of other rug ideas I want to create. Thankfully, this project is pocket change. Here are all the details..
Supplies: rug (mine was $2.00 from Walmart), spray paint, masking tape, adhesive letters (I used 5 inch letters).
Start by choosing something fun to write on your rug. Carefully apply the letters, making sure they are as straight as possible. Use a ruler if it makes you more comfortable! After you've applied the letters, begin making a pattern with masking tape. I chose a chevron pattern. Then spray! I spray painted every other zigzag with one color, waited for it to dry, then repeated the process on the remaining zigzags with my secondary color. After all the paint is dry, remove all the tape and letters!
Hope your day is a splendid one. xx
*Note: This is my first time making this project so I'm unaware of how durable the spray paint will be. Happy experimenting!
too cool! this is so creative :))

ReplyDeleteI love this diy doormat. It's so cute, I want to make one like it! It would be funny if it said something about leaving instead of staying (lol).
ReplyDeleteI recently (a couple weeks ago) made my own diy doormat. It's such an easy, inexpensive way to bring your own style to your front door. You can check it out at: http://thehousecandy.com/diy-ombre-door-mat/
Again, great job on yours!
