Here's a simple way to add a unique twist to the ballerina bun hair style. A big thanks to my pal, Mallory, for helping me out today.
Step 1// Start with your hair down and natural.
Step 2// Put your hair into a high ponytail.
Step 3-4// Take the middle section of the ponytail, and create four small braids. Secure the ends with a small elastic hair band.
Step 5// Then, take the sock or hair donut, and put it at the base of the ponytail.
Step 6// Wrap the hair around the sock/hair donut, and secure it in place with a hair tie. Adjust the braids so that they are visible and evenly spaced apart.
Step 7// Once the sock/donut is covered, pin the ends of your hair around the base of the bun, hiding the hair tie.
Step 8// voilà !
Do you have any other ideas on how to give the ballerina bun a unique twist?
I wish this was as easy for us ladies with waist length hair. x

Hi Mia,
DeleteMy hair is waist length and I'm actually wearing this hairstyle today! It's just as easy with long hair as it is a medium length. Hope you're able to try it out for yourself! :)

I don't have waist length hair, but very thick hair.. can't do anything like this gorgeous bun with my hair :(
Deleteooh this is so cute! I'll have to try it soon :)
ReplyDeleteI also have pretty long hair and am really struggling with a normal sock bun, so I would so fail on this. But it looks pretty though
ReplyDeletethis is so cute! unfortunately, sock buns are difficult for me and my long mane. but who knows -- maybe one day, i'll go short, and i'll try this out. x

Mallory is so beautiful! Lovely tutorial, but unfortunately for me, my hair is currently too short... Once it grows I'll make a beautiful braided bun by following your tutorial!

It's too bad that I've recently cut my hair because I couldn't think of any more creative things to do with my long hair. Lol and now this "top knot" is in and every girl is doing it. Lol this braid is super cute though, definitely more achievable for me than the "top knot" but I don't know if my hair is long enough. I'll save it for the next time I decide to grow it out again :) thanks kinsey!
ReplyDeleteI too have waist length super thick hair. I tried this with the kind from the beauty supply store and the bun was huge! I liked it better than a sock because you can pin into it and it holds better. Hope this helps you long haired girls.
