I'll be honest, I've been trying to think of a way to make a necklace like this for about six months now. I love this style, but the most typical way I've seen it made and sold around the web was with metal. Don't get me wrong, the metal version of this style necklace is so, so pretty, but at least for me, it wasn't an option for me to be able to create properly. So alas, I've been sitting on this idea for quite some time. Then, I stumbled upon these plastic canvas triangles in the knitting section at a local craft store and knew I had finally found a solution!
Supplies: Spray paint, jewelry chain, plastic triangle canvas
Pantry Supplies: Scissors, heavy duty craft glue, jewelry pliers.
Begin by cutting the triangles to the correct size. I made mine about 1 1/2 inches long on each side of the triangle. Next, spray paint them! I chose to paint two triangles gold and one black. You could use a different paint besides spray paint, I just found that it created a really consistent look and dried faster than a typical craft paint would have. Next, layer and glue the triangles together. Once the glue is dry, attach jewelry chain at the top of the first triangle to complete the necklace. All finished!
p.s. I'm not entirely sure why the photos on this post are of such low quality, but we're working on figuring out the issue!
Love this. doing this.
