I'm learning the value of taking time off this summer. With weddings and shoots every couple of days, it's easy to get in the mentality of "I've got to stay on the top" with editing, emails, blogging, etc, etc, etc. But I've really been trying to take at least one day off a week, which honestly is one of the HARDEST things in the world for me. I love what I do with my whole heart, but sometimes that passion can take away from some really important things like taking days off, enjoying the little things, "just for fun" road trips, and honestly, keeping my sanity. I think one reason I gravitate towards a healthy, balanced lifestyle is because 99% of the time my life feels like a ball of chaos. Trying to catch up, always one step behind. This summer I'm really focused on enjoying the moments in front of me. If I don't finish a to-do list then well, I don't finish it. I can work on it the next day. Plain and simple. I think my summer mentality before I shot weddings was vacation mode. Summer festivities just seemed to happen so easily. But since our busiest season is the summertime, we really have to make it a point to make time for those things. We are going on more dates, hanging out with and meeting new friends, exploring our new city, and taking more road trips than ever before, and I'm okay with that.
We are currently on our way to go camping in Arkansas before the weekend gets here. Days like this make me feel revived and refreshed. And not only that, but it sparks a deeper passion and love for what I do.
Learning balance. Taking in the moments. Capturing the life and love right before our eyes.

The most important lesson I've learned since I started as a self-employed entrepreneur 12 years ago is the value of taking time off. Not only does it remind me to enjoy life, it makes me more motivated and inspired when it's time to come back to work. I hope you're enjoying camping love!
ReplyDeleteWow, nice break! beautiful place and you too :)
