One of my favorite diy's on the ole' blog to date. This easy project takes less than two hours and is great to wear as the season changes over from winter to spring. Enjoy!
Supplies: sweatshirt, fabric squares, scissors, sewing pins, sewing machine.
1-2. Begin by cutting down the middle of the back of the sweatshirt. Cut 2-3 inches off each flap so that there is a gap between. Hem the edges with a zig zag stitch. I also cut off the sleeves and rolled them, making it a three-quarters sleeve.
3. Next, cut out fabric pieces, 6x8 inches. I chose to have six different bows.
4. Fold in half width wise, and stitch together. Flip right side out.
5. Next, stitch together the same amount of smaller tubes, 2.5x3.5 inches. Flip them right side out. Stitch the ends together making a ring. Pull this ring over the large tubes, making a bow. I mixed and matched the fabrics.
6. Lastly, pin the bows in place throughout the sweatshirt, giving an even gap between each bow. Sew them in place with a zig zag stitch.
Super cute! It will be nice on chilly summer nights.

This is an amazing idea! I'd probably attach the bow closer to the neckline though, those flappy bits would be so annoying for me. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThat is so crafty and awesome! I love it!
