There really is something captivating about aged literature. Reading is one of my most cherished methods of relaxation, so I'm always thrilled when I find a beautiful, aged book. What I've found recently in some local thrift stores is some.. not so beautifully aged books. Torn, stained pages, missing covers, nothing to make it appealing to your every day customer. Anytime I see a worn book that is no longer readable, I always snatch it up with hopes of finding a new way to give it life again. For this project, I'm partnering up with Canon USA in giving some worn book pages another chance and creating some simple decor for our home.
supplies: PIXMA iP8720 printer, book pages, scissors, ribbon or thread, scotch tape.
Begin by ripping out book pages and printing images onto them individually. It may take a few tries to find the right images for this project. Personally, I found images that aren't too busy and have a high contrast look best.
Once you've printed photos onto the pages, cut each page into a feather and fringe the ends. My garland has a mix of printed and non printed book pages so that it doesn't look too busy.
Once you've cut out the feathers, tape around the ribbon or thread evenly spaced out.
Maybe I'm just a sentimental sap, but I love that this project not only tells a written story, but now a whole new story from the photographs printed.
Very neat tutorial! Love garlands so much. :)
